Counseling

The Family Service Center’s Adoption Preservation program is designed to assist families who have adopted or have subsidized guardianship of a child or children.  The program serves five counties including Christian, Macoupin, Menard, Montgomery, and Sangamon.   It is free of charge and anyone can make a referral for services.  Adoption preservation staff are typically Masters level professionals with experience in family dynamics, including issues common to adoptive or blended families.  Our approach to working with families is based in systems theory and considers problems within the context of the entire familial unit.

Services

This comprehensive program targets families who are experiencing challenges which threaten the stability of the family unit.  These families are offered a variety of services based on an assessment of their unique needs.  Such services any include, but are not limited to individual land family therapy, behavioral interventions, advocacy, parenting classes, groups and referrals to other services providers as needed.  In addition to these services we have recently implemented a new more intensive program designed to target particularly challenging behaviors which have proven resistant to more traditional approaches.  Our IMPACT Program is available for families that need more intensive services.
