Post Adoption Services
Respite
Our program recognizes that finalizing an adoption is just the beginning of a life-long process. As parents and children grow and change, they may encounter difficulties from time to time in their relationships, which are further complicated by the unique factor of adoption.
Respite services are provided to children who were former wards of the Department of Children and Family Services that were adopted or in a subsidized guardianship placement. We offer out of home (overnight or weekend) respite on a scheduled or an emergency basis either through placement in licensed foster homes or through a family member able to care for the child in the adoptive parent’s absence.
Counseling
In addition to respite services, FSC also offers counseling through our Adoption Preservation Program. Click here to find out more.
Support Groups
In the fall of 2011, FSC adoption support services merged with SCIAPA (South Central Illinois Adoptive Parent Association) and became Adopt ILLINOIS. FSC is now the host agency for Adopt ILLINOIS and meets each month with adoptive families.
