The Relative and Traditional Foster Care Program of Family Service Center of Sangamon County has been providing services to families since 1990. Our program monitors the family involved in the foster care placement to ensure the safety and stability of the child in the home. Specific services include:

• Case management for the home
• Monitoring the health care, education, and care of the child
• Monitoring the parenting skills provided to the child
• Reporting any abuse/neglect to Family Court and the Department of Children and Family Services
• Advocating for the child's needs and his/her best interest at Family Court hearings
• Providing training to the foster parents so they can better meet the needs of the child
• Providing referral sources to the parent(s) for additional assistance as needed

Fees and/or Funding

Fees are not charged to the family served within the Relative and Traditional Foster Care Program. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services provides all funding for this program.
